My Wife I bought this Oven with the thoughts that with a Brand Name like Black Decker that security would be a priority. We had been so incorrect! This oven has so little heat shielding that utilizing a Expert Chef's Thermometer (I am a Pastry Chef) we measured over 150'F on the side more than 200'F on the back and we stopped counting when the prime hit 250'F and was nonetheless rising. You get readily burned by this unit as even the control panel was hot, over 120'F, the door is particularly hot and just drops due to the weight and if you try to catch it you will get burnt. I really like this oven. I use it about three-4x per week because i am commonly just cooking for 2. It's wonderful as a result of the heat is even, I have found that I can use the convection function and bake at a slightly lower temperature and nevertheless cook in about 2/three of the time it would typically take in a common oven. I also like that it has a timer so that the oven just shuts off when the timer is set. It also has automatic settings for some of the most widely used/usually baked products like potatoes pizza. I frequently bake sweet potatoes as a healthful, packable snack so I use the "potato" function and I never have to worry about it. I am truly enjoying this oven.
